Football Premier-league: Fulham 3-2 QPR: First-half nightmare ...

Harry Redknapp's hopes of maintaining Queens Park Rangers' Premier League status are now hanging on a thread after the Hoops found themselves on the wrong side of a five-goal thriller against 10-man Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Goals from Adel Taarabt and Loic Remy were not enough to inspire a miraculous comeback after a disastrous first-half performance saw them concede three goals, while the home side managed to survive the final 10 minutes following Steve Sidwell's straight red card.

Dimitar Berbatov put the Cottagers in front from the spot after eight minutes, following Christopher Samba's foul on Ashkan Dejagah, while the towering Bulgarian took advantage of another Samba mistake to net his second 10 minutes later.

Fulham got their third just before the break when Hoops captain Clint Hill shouldered in John Arne Riise's cross, but Taarabt swiftly replied with a fantastic solo goal to give Redknapp some home.

And the manager's half-time team talk seemed to invigorate his side who rose to the ascendancy in the second-half, but again the top-flight strugglers suffered from a lack of a clinical touch.

Remy's missed a crucial chance to pull another back for the visitors, with Mark Schawarzer doing well the thwart the Frenchman from the penalty spot.

But the striker made amends with a fortunate finish moments later, hitting a volley on the turn which just found the underside of the bar.

QPR pressed for the equaliser until the dying embers of the game and were given further belief when Sidwell was dismissed for a reckless challenge on Armand Traore.

But despite good efforts from Jermaine Jenas, Bobby Zamora and further chances for Remy, they couldn't muster that all important goal.
