Sunday Times Wealthy Record 2013: Arsenal FC's billionaire manager Alisher Usmanov... - Mirror.co.uk

European billionaire Alisher Usmanov is top of this year's Sunday Times Rich List. The 59-year-old - who features a near one month risk in Arsenal Soccer Club - is worth A13.3 thousand, according to the record, which will be published tomorrow. His business empire, which started with the making of plastic bags, runs from Metalloinvest, Russia's greatest iron ore company, to a share in mail.ru, the country's largest internet business, and a huge holding in MegaFon, a cellular phone operator which stated on the London and Moscow share markets a year ago. Mr Usmanov owns Sutton Place, the former Surrey home of the late oil baron J Paul Getty, as well as a A48 million estate in north London. Lakshmi Mittal, who spent eight years towards the top of the list, has dropped right down to next. The steel magnate, today worth A10 billion, may be the largest faller in money conditions. The 40% risk Mr Mittal and his wife Usha hold in the steelmaking large ArcelorMittal has dropped from A28 billion at its peak to A5.95 billion. The greatest placed UK-born person could be the Duke of Westminster, who is worth A7.8 million and ranked eighth. In 2nd place is Russian-born Len Blavatnik, whose increase in wealth from A3.4 billion last year to A11 billion this year, makes him the best riser in wealth terms. Mr Blavatnik owns Warner Music, and received A2 billion last month for his position in TNK-BP. The amount of billionaires in britain has increased ten-fold since the Sunday Times Rich List was initially published in 1989, firing from seven to 88. There this past year were 77. Based on the number, the 1000 wealthiest people in Britain have prosperity totalling very nearly A450 billion. The combined wealth of the top 200 people is A318.2 billion, a more than eightfold rise on the A38 billion for the combined wealth of the 200 people presented in the first list. In 1989, the Queen topped the list with total wealth of A5,200 million. That value included the royal art collection and all the Crown Estates. In old age, the Queen has been valued only on her personal success and no longer topped the list after 1993.
