Arsenal Are Overachieving, And Thatas Specifically Their Problem

The Gunners are gunning for the Champions League places with a puncher's chance at third, and a realistic shot at fourth. Arsenal are favorites to play in Europe's top club competition for the 17th straight year, a streak only eclipsed in English football by Manchester United.

Sure, Arsene Wenger's side will go an eighth straight year without adding to the trophy cabinet at the Emirates courtesy of a gallant failure in the Champions League against Bayern Munich, a thoroughly embarrassing exit from the ugly step-child of cup competitions (the aptly named Capital One Cup), and a poor defeat in the FA Cup (0-1 at home to Blackburn Rovers).

But can Arsenal really expect to win trophies anymore? The fact that Wenger simply has his team in line for the jackpot that is the Champions League for another season suggests that Arsenal may be the biggest overachievers ever in the Premier League.

Out of all the clubs in the top flight this season, over the last five years, Arsenal has the lowest net expenditure in the transfer market. Arsenal have a net transfer market tab of +£36,700,000. That puts the Gunners in 20th place for net money spent. They've been long relegated in the money race.

Sure, Arsenal have spent quite a bit of money over the last five years, but the money going out to buy new players is nowhere near the amount of money their rivals are spending. Arsenal have spent less than Manchester City and United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, and even Aston Villa, while Sunderland are trailing closely behind.

But Arsenal are a selling club. The numbers prove that beyond a reasonable doubt. Wenger has sold players over the last five years to the tune of £182,400,000. Most, if not all, of Arsenal's true big-name players have skipped out the door, a fact underlined by the startling truth that Arsenal have had a different captain each of the last three years, and will probably have a new skipper next year as well.

None of what I've just written is hyperbole. Arsene Wenger has again got his team clicking at the right time. Arsenal are hitting their groove when it matters most, and Wenger has cajoled the most out of a team of players that would look more at home in the Europa League. He has managed to keep the club afloat even after selling stars like Fabregas and legends like Van Persie, year after year after year. That's impressive.

But since when have the standards been so dramatically lowered that Arsenal are overachieving in third place? Overachieving in a season when they've been embarrassed time after time in cup competitions? A season where one of the world's most storied clubs are 21 points off the league lead? Since when are Arsenal a selling club?

Understanding that Arsenal are outperforming their ability this season should give you a good idea of how far the club has fallen. The Gunners are in a sad state of decline. The club's competitiveness has been rotting away ever since the Invincibles season in 2003-2004. Apathy has set in. Fourth place has become good enough.

Patrick Vieira has turned into Mikel Arteta. Thierry Henry turned into Olivier Giroud. Jens Lehmann is Lukas Fabianski. The club has gone from demanding and getting great, to asking for and often receiving good. How did the decline occur?

It would be easy to say Arsenal got complacent after they went undefeated in the Premier League in '03-'04. To some extent, Wenger let the "Le Professor" talk go to his head. Arsenal got cocky. And 2004 was a bad time to get cocky. Manchester United were resurging, Chelsea and big money were bursting onto the scene, and Liverpool, under Steven Gerrard and Rafael Benitez, were making a comeback as well.

Wenger started selling players, thinking he could build his team from the ground up, coax young players into playing the beautiful game, while opening up a beautiful new stadium. He thought he, not his world-class team, was the most important part of Arsenal's success.

At the time, his argument carried weight. The Emirates Arsenal were young, they played pretty, and Wenger said they only needed time. But when the kids grew up, they were sold. And once you're a selling club, it's hard to break out of being a selling club.

In fact, we've known that Wenger's way hasn't worked for half a decade. But Arsenal won't fire him. And why should they? Wenger is still a top coach in terms of performing on the field, and he's getting the best out of the team he has assembled. Problem is, he's assembled a mediocre team, a team that looks worse than the previous year's mediocre team, just as he has done for the better part of a decade.

While Chelsea's way of doing business – sacking managers every half season – is inhumane, grotesque, stupefying, and often plain stupid, it keeps people well aware of the club's expectations. Excellence, nothing less.

Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Bayern — all of the top clubs all follow the same principle. They have no patience. Win, maintain and exceed the club's high demands, and you may just keep your job.

Arsenal are like an old amusement park that had its heyday in the 1960's, and has been slowly breaking down ever since, but isn't willing to renovate for fear of losing the park's old charm.

So the question to Arsenal fans is, is it acceptable to finish fourth every year? Acceptable to make a late season surge, but never gain silverware? Acceptable to sell the club's best players? Wenger doesn't need to be fired, he's been to the mountain top, and he can find it again. He just needs a GPS.

The club needs to completely rethink its strategy, methods and expectations. They have a long way back to the top of English football. Arsenal are overachieving right now. And with the season they are having, that should never be good enough.

2013 NFL Draft Grades: Deteriorating Every Team's School

As they might have given that the 2013 NFL draft has ended, all 32 teams feel like they have a better shot at reaching the Super Bowl next season.A But, some teams may not have accomplished as well in the draft. These grades are based off of recommendations handling needs and other skill offered by enough time of the pick.A These grades aren't based off of how these leads or the team can fare next year. The complete 2013 NFL draft results can be found by *you here. 2013 NFL Draft Team Degrees Significant Draft Lessons Jacksonville Jaguars: A- The Jaguars were one of the worst groups in the NFL last season.A However, a solid draft course with some very good selections resolved plenty of needs for this team.A It appears the Jags are providing Blaine Gabbert every opportunity to succeed next year, and the staff is in good position to start out winning games. Luke Joeckel was the clear big pick, as he will are available in and help in keeping the quarterback upright.A However, the team also got a great probability in the 2nd round by picking up Johnathan Cyprien.A He is a solid security who loves to strike the ball-carrier and can actually produce a big effect on the security. Alongside adding protection and defensive players, the Jaguars were able to bring in a couple of weapons.A They introduced Ace Sanders, a 5'7'' recipient who has amazing speed and can make an impact in both the get back game and the passing game. They were also in a position to generate Denard Robinson, who was one of the more interesting picks.A It could have already been a reach to seize him in the sixth round, but he is a versatile athlete who has major play potential. Philadelphia Eagles: B+ The Eagles made quality picks one after another in the draft this year.A With a brand new head coach in Chip Kelly, the look of this team will differ in 2013, specifically on offense. The addition of Lane Johnson was the perfect match for what will likely be a offense this year.A He is an athletic handle who's in sufficient shape to keep up with an easy offense. Zach Ertz is a great route-runner at tight end and could make an effect in the driving game.A Bennie Logan is someone who could fill the spaces and end the run.A Even the pick of Matt Barkley wasn't too poor, as the team surely could get a second-round probability in the last round. The largest steal in the draft might have been Jordan Poyer falling to the Eagles in the seventh round.A He did a great career at Oregon State and was predicted by some to be a or third-round pick.A However, his smaller size may have scared other groups off.A The Eagles will undoubtedly be getting a great possibility who is able to come in an immediately play as a dime corner. Baltimore Ravens: A- All eyes were on the Ravens after dropping Ray Lewis, Paul Kruger, Ed Reed, Cary Williams and others.A The signing of Elvis Dumervil was one small step, however the draft helped improve this protection much more. Taking in Matt Elam in the first round was a good first step to increasing this team.A Elam was a at Florida; he simply finds approaches to reach the ball-carrier and wrap up to help make the tackle.A He'll be described as a solid replacement for Reed in terms of that hostile attitude at safety. In the 2nd round, they were able to create in a player in Arthur Brown.A He was a very profitable player at Kansas State and a certain tackler.A Alongside playing well from the work, he's a good linebacker in coverage. A solid pick in the sixth round was Aaron Mellette, the large receiver out of Elon.A With a 6'2'' framework, he's an appealing possibility in the red zone.A He is a route-runner with solid pace, though he will not burn up anyone in the second by any means. With therefore many people leaving, a way was found by the Ravens to generate people to rapidly fill those holes.A They did a great job in the draft and will continue to rebuild their staff to create another run at an Excellent Bowl.

Yvette Prieto and Michael Jordan Wedding: Attendees, Photos and Details

NBA legend and current Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan tied the knot with longtime girlfriend Yvette Prieto on Saturday in Palm Beach, Fla., according to People.com's Jennifer Garcia.

The event was held at the Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, and featured roughly 500 guests including some other former NBA stars (photo via NBA.SI.com):

There were plenty of friends and celebrities on hand (via ETonline.com) to support Jordan and his fiancee this weekend. Notable attendees included Jordan's former Chicago Bulls teammate Scottie Pippen, Jordan's mother, former New York Knicks superstar Patrick Ewing and well-known director Spike Lee, among others (photo via NBA.SI.com):

Here's a look at some closer shots of Pippen and Ewing, who along with Jordan played in some of the most memorable playoff series during the 1990s, when Bulls-Knicks was arguably the best rivalry in basketball (photos via HuffingtonPost.com):

According to Michele Dargan of the Palm Beach Daily News, guests began arriving at the church around 3 p.m. ET, an hour or so before the wedding ceremony began at roughly 4:15 p.m. ET.

The ceremony inside the church lasted about an hour as bells reportedly rang out not long after 5 p.m. ET, according to Dargan.

Not that you can see her in this photo, but this flock of umbrellas is supposedly hiding the bride before she entered the church for Saturday's ceremony:

An even larger crowd of an estimated 2,000 people gathered at the Bear's Club, a golf course community in Jupiter, Fla., for the reception under a massive, state-of-the-art wedding tent (photo via LarryBrownSports.com):

According to Garcia, the 50-year-old Jordan met the 35-year-old Prieto at a Miami nightclub five years ago and proposed to her in late 2011.

Given the Bobcats' struggles on the hardwood in recent seasons, it's safe to say that this weekend's ceremony and subsequent celebration was a welcomed distraction for Michael Jordan heading into another challenging offseason.

SEC Event 2013: Predictions for Each Sport of the Tournament

Georgia compared to. LSU The Bulldogs defeated LSU at home in the clubs' only meeting of this time. LSU has drastically increased since that game, although. The Tigers have not been able to consistently take on the elite teams of the SEC, nevertheless they have been able to perform well at home against a few of the more typical teams in the league. The Bulldogs have now been playing well also. They won two of these final three games, losing their final game on a heartbreaking half-court buzzer-beater to Alabama. Both groups have increased, nevertheless the Bulldogs revealed the very first time around they are the better group. Pick: Atlanta Mississippi State versus. Tennessee The Volunteers got hot at the best time, reported by users. Tennessee has won nine of its final nine games and has played its way into competition for an NCAA tournament bet. That could all vanish rapidly if they fell to Mississippi State, although. The Bulldogs have struggled for some of the entire year, including enduring a 13-game losing streak. Just how Tennessee has been playing of late, this game is not expected to be much of a match. Pick: Tennessee Vanderbilt vs. Illinois Illinois got one on the chin when it went on the trail to perform Vanderbilt in February. The exact same can be said for when Vanderbilt went along to Arkansas in January. While the first two activities were the rubber match should really be as uncompetitive. Vanderbilt has managed to get four of its last five games and is playing much better, but its offense is too flat to keep pace with the Razorbacks. Pick: Illinois Texas A&M vs. Mo This season could be no wronged at home by the Missouri Tigers do, but conversely they could do nothing right on the trail. One of their road fiascos came once they took on the Aggies in College Station. Missouri came aside against the Aggies on your way, and it eventually cost the game to them. The same should not be expected to occur these times. Missouri is much more gifted then Texas A&M, and that will show in their 2nd meeting in 2010. Probably the most interesting article to follow: Which Missouri staff can show up to a natural site? The one that couldn't lose at home, or the one that could not gain on the road? Pick: Mo

LA Galaxy Sink Herediano to Secure a Spot in CONCACAF Semifinals

The Los Angeles Galaxy secured a 4-1 victory over Costa Rican side Herediano to secure a spot in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League.

The atmosphere at the Home Depot Center was marvelous throughout the night. The visitors brought a sizable amount of support, but the home fans' enthusiasm dominated the entire 90 minutes.

Omar Gonzalez opened the scoring for the Galaxy on a set piece that came after Bruce Arena's side bossed the early minutes.

Similar to their season opener against the Chicago Fire, Robbie Keane and his colleagues found a way to control possession without letting the visitors ever truly threaten.

The outstanding play of Villarreal, who held the ball up well and took his chance marvelously, was one of the many positives to take from the match.

Galaxy goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini seemed much more relaxed than he did against Chicago. His command of the penalty area was improved and it appears as though the relationship between him and his defenders is going to do nothing but get better.

McBean was another bright spot for the Galaxy. The midfielder came on in the closing minutes and scored a fantastic goal just seconds from time.

Even so, the Galaxy played a fantastic 90 minutes, and they will go into this Sunday's L.A. Derby with a superb amount of confidence.

Knicks vs. Celtics: Isolation Basketball Proves to Be New York's Achilles' Heel

The New York Knicks entered the 2013 NBA Playoffs with mountains of expectations, as they finished as the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Through three games against the Boston Celtics, the Knicks secured a 3-0 lead and never saw the outcome come into question.

The Knicks trailed throughout Game 4, falling behind by as many as 20 points during the third quarter. Led by Raymond Felton's sharpshooting and extraordinary ball movement, however, the Knicks tied it all up and forced overtime.

For the game, the Knicks managed to tally just 10 assists. As a result, they shot 34.4 percent from the field as a team and 23.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Fortunately for the Knicks, it's quite rare that their team struggles to move the ball and shoot at a high rate. They shot less than 40.0 percent in just 10 games during the regular season, going 2-8 in that time.

With this being known, it can be derived that the Knicks have avoided isolation basketball throughout the 2012-13 NBA regular season. When they fall into such a pattern of offensive execution, however, the Knicks fall apart.

The primary reason for the New York Knicks' inability to move the ball was scoring champion Carmelo Anthony's isolation tendencies. While Anthony's 36 points looked pretty, appearances were deceiving.

Anthony was stifled throughout the duration of this game, as Brandon Bass used physicality to knock him off of his game. When Bass was off of the floor, Jeff Green and Paul Pierce employed that same strategy, and it worked to perfection.

Anthony has benefited tremendously from the addition of point guards such as Raymond Felton, Jason Kidd and Pablo Prigioni. With those facilitators controlling the pace of the game, Anthony has been given the ball in position to score.

In Game 4, 'Melo scrapped that strategy and took it all upon himself—the Knicks suffered because of the lack of chemistry.

Entering Game 4, no storyline generated as much hype or attention as the suspension of Sixth Man of the Year and Knicks shooting guard, J.R. Smith. Smith, the Knicks' second-leading scorer, was banned for one game after throwing an elbow at Celtics shooting guard Jason Terry.

Carmelo Anthony had attempted at least 30 shots in just four games prior to this, with the Knicks going 2-2 in that time. Both of those losses came against a fellow postseason team in the Chicago Bulls.

With Smith back in the lineup, it's rather unlikely that 'Melo will throw up at least 30 field-goal attempts in any game from here on out. The Knicks trust Smith to provide the secondary individual scoring spark behind Anthony, thus creating a lesser need for isolation basketball.

Without Smith, however, Anthony appears to have developed a predetermined mentality in which he sights isolation dominance as the only way to win a game.

The New York Knicks may not have an individual point guard who classifies as elite, but they have three top-tier facilitators. Raymond Felton has mastered the pick-and-roll, Jason Kidd is one of the greatest distributors in NBA history, and Pablo Prigioni has played on big stages before.

Not every basket needs to be assisted, as Anthony is more than capable of working out of Isolation sets on the occasional possession. With that being said, the Knicks' greatest strength is not their superstar scorer.

The Knicks set the NBA record in 2012-13 for three-point field goals made in one season. Eight active players averaged at least 1.0 three-point field goals made per game, with 'Melo leading the way at 2.3 per contest.

With that being said, Anthony was fifth on the team in three-point field-goal percentage—hence the need to move the ball.

Steve Novak is a marksman, Jason Kidd is third all-time in three-point field goals, and the likes of Chris Copeland, Pablo Prigioni and Iman Shumpert have developed into reliable options. Even if that only leads to two attempts per game, those are valuable shots.

If 'Melo wants to dominate as his talent permits, he must embrace his teammates as he has all season. Although the Knicks expect him to shoot at a high volume, isolation-style basketball is not the way to win games in the postseason.

Diego Costa: Would Brazilian Striker Be a Success at Arsenal?

That run of form earned him a call-up to the Brazilian national team for the friendlies against Italy and Russia. Costa came on during the first of those games to make his international debut, replacing the experienced Fred as a substitute.

Now, he's being linked with a possible move to join Arsenal in the Premier League. Finally, Diego Costa is making headlines for all the right reasons.

Diego Costa is a player who has long attracted controversy. It is sometimes said that Arsenal are guilty of being too nice; that they lack a competitive edge. Costa would remedy that immediately.

There is a nasty side to his game that comes from a burning desire to win. Spanish newspaper AS dubbed him 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Costa' due to his controversial on-field antics. As The Guardian's Sid Lowe wrote, Costa treats "football as love and war – a territory where all is fair". He is a far cry from the genteel manners of Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud.

Costa's profile as a pantomime villain would be even higher were it not for his headline-grabbing strike partner. Understandably, Diego Costa has found himself occasionally overshadowed by the goal-scoring heroics of Atletico's other South American sensation: Radamel Falcao.

However, all great goalscorers require a foil. Alan Shearer would not have fired Blackburn Rovers to the Premier League title without the support of Chris Sutton. Michael Owen's impressive England record was built on the back of Emile Heskey's work-rate. At Arsenal, Thierry Henry would not have become the club's record goalscorer without the assists and assistance of one Dennis Bergkamp.

Valencia coach Ernesto Valverde is in no doubt about the contribution of Diego Costa to Atletico's success. Speaking before the weekend's match between Valencia and Atletico, Valverde said:

Diego Costa is in great form. He can lead the team, as can Falcao, but he also has the ability to not lose the ball.

It's a ringing endorsement of the Brazilian's talents, and one that will have Arsenal fans drooling at the prospect of seeing him arrive in North London.

Diego Costa could play either as the lone striker of as a support player, coming from deep as both Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere have done on occasion this season.

He would also allow Arsenal the option of switching to play two upfront. If he could dove-tail as effectively with Olivier Giroud as he has with Falcao, then he'd be a fantastic addition.

His physicality is well-suited to the Premier League. He isn't the sort of player to shirk a challenge. Like Gilberto Silva before him, he does not meet the stereotype of a Brazilian footballer: his game is as much about graft as guile.

The biggest barrier to Arsenal's quest to sign him is the fact that Diego Costa Atletico will be loathe to let him go, especially in a summer when they look set to lose their talisman, Falcao.

If Atletico can be convinced to part with Diego Costa, Arsenal will be lucky beneficiaries. He would add flair, finesse and fight to the Arsenal attack.

Michael Waltrip Enjoying Team's Success, Touts Promotion for Aspiring Racers

But since establishing his three-car Sprint Cup operation in 2007, the younger Waltrip's organization has steadily seen progress, to the point where when folks talk to Darrell, many are likely to say now, "Oh, you're Michael's brother, right?"

And that name and his company's reputation within the sport are going to continue to get bigger and better, particularly with both Michael Waltrip Racing drivers, Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex Jr. Not only did both drivers make last season's Chase for the Sprint Cup, Bowyer finished a career-best second place in the Sprint Cup standings, just 39 points behind eventual champion Brad Keselowski.

"Oh, by far," Waltrip said in an interview with Bleacher Report this week. "We didn't have the history to have a lot of confidence about where we were starting a season. And this season, we feel confident about our cars, we love our teams and drivers and we really feel good about who we are.

"All in all, we feel good about where we are with our team and the fact that we have the same guys turning the wrenches and driving the cars in 2013 that we had in 2012, that's a really important part of why we are confident about where we are as an organization."

No one feels better about it than the guy whose name is on the building, who pays the bills and who is now as comfortable as being called "boss" as he is by his first name.

"It's been a long road, no doubt," Waltrip said. "We started out (in 2007) with a new manufacturer (Toyota) and a new team, and we were racing against folks that had been around for many, many years. And we struggled mightily. We couldn't make races, weren't competitive.

We had told our sponsors and partners that joined us back in '07 that we would win, and that was not true. And so, luckily, I had a lot of equity built up with NAPA, Aarons, Best Western, Freightliner, the folks that were there back then, and that allowed us the chance to get it right.

"We finally got to the point where we were competing for wins every week with both the NAPA car and the 5 Hour Energy car in the Chase last year, so I'm just thankful that the partners and sponsors all stuck around long enough to let us have the success that we told them that we would have.

"It's real important to me to do what I say I'm going to do. It took longer than I hoped, obviously, but now we're competing for and doing the things we thought we could do when we started this organization."

Last year's March race saw Truex, Boyer and Brian Vickers (subbing for Mark Martin) finish third, fourth and fifth. In the August race, the three MWR drivers again finished in the top 11.

"Bristol was one of our strongest tracks last year, for sure," Waltrip said. "We came out and for the first time, finished all three cars in the top-five in the spring, and then (ran strong again) back in the fall.

"We have really fast cars, and we're really confident about this new Gen 6 car at Bristol. It's going to be fun to watch the new car; it's a little bit lighter this year, and that will help more at Bristol than anywhere we've raced so far. It's going to be fun."

As was the case last year, Mark Martin is running a part-time schedule of 24 races for MWR, with Vickers the designated fill-in for most of the others.

However, with Martin having such a strong start this season, and if he can win two races or more in the 17 pre-Chase events he's entered in, there's a possibility he could become the first part-time driver to make the Chase as a wild card (provided he's in the top 20 in the standings heading into the Chase).

That possibility is not lost on Waltrip, who would love to see Martin have one last shot at winning the Cup championship that has eluded him for three decades (although Martin has finished second in the standings five different seasons).

"Yeah, we've talked about it and just think that would be a great problem to try and figure out when that happens," Waltrip said of Martin potentially making the Chase. "We want everybody to wonder that, and we kind of wonder it, too. And if we have to figure it out, that would be a great problem to have."

Waltrip spoke with Bleacher Report as part of a telephone media tour to talk about one of the most unique promotions to hit NASCAR in many years, the Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge.

The program, sponsored by Peak Motor Oil and Antifreeze, runs through May 31 and bills itself as a "nationwide search for the next Michael Waltrip Racing stock car driving star."

Waltrip, Bowyer and Danica Patrick will all be involved in the promotion, which asks aspiring racers to submit video auditions of their personalities and driving ability to

The key for contest entrants is to try and convince judges that they should get a dream-come-true opportunity to showcase their natural ability behind the wheel of a race car. Videos will be judged on originality, racing enthusiasm, racing ability and experience, attention to the Peak brand and accumulating points on each contestant's online profile page.

Points will be acquired by uploading photos to Instagram from races and tagging @peakauto on Twitter and Facebook. Entrants' videos must also reach a minimum of 500 views.

An accompanying sweepstakes for race fans will include a number of prizes including a brand new 2013 Toyota Tundra, driving school experiences, a VIP trip to watch a race at Daytona International Speedway and more.

"The videos will be fun to watch," Waltrip said. "You upload them to the web site, and you get them liked on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram also gains you some momentum, and there's a sweepstakes that goes along with this as well, where you can win a Toyota Tundra pickup truck and other cool prizes.

"You go there and enter some videos of what you've accomplished, what you've done and what your goals are and it's a round of testing with our team," Waltrip said. "That's really exciting for me. I love to give people chances that otherwise wouldn't have them. And thanks to Peak and this challenge, they're going to get that opportunity."

The top 10 winners will compete in a three-day racing program in July at an as-yet unnamed short track with coaching and judging from Waltrip, Bowyer, Patrick and other key figures in NASCAR.

One overall winner will then be chosen for additional training, as well as the opportunity to earn their NASCAR competition license and then be put in a Peak-sponsored stock car in a sanctioned race to "prove that they have what it takes to become Michael Waltrip Racing's next stock car driver."

"There's a chance for someone with that same kind of drive and determination to show what they've got, and Danica, Clint and I are going to watch them, and hopefully, it'll be the next star one day," Waltrip said.

Manhunter Universe Drain Herediano to Secure a Spot in CONCACAF Semifinals

A 4-1 victory was secured by the Los Angeles Galaxy over Costa Rican side Herediano to secure an area in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League. This is the very first time in the club's history they have managed to get to this level of the event. The atmosphere at the Home Depot Center was outstanding through the entire evening. The visitors brought a considerable amount of service, but the home fans' passion dominated the complete 90 minutes. Omar Gonzalez opened the scoring for the Galaxy on a set piece that came after Bruce Arena's part bossed the first minutes. Similar to their season opener contrary to the Chicago Fire, Robbie Keane and his colleagues found ways to controlApossessionAwithout making the visitors actually truly threaten. Gonzalez, Keane, Jack McBean and Jose Villarreal the night could all set the ball in the web by enough time was over. The excellent play of Villarreal, who got his opportunity marvelously and kept the ball up well, was one of the many benefits to simply take from the fit. Universe goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini seemed far more relaxed than he did against Chicago. His command of the penalty area was improved and it seems as though the connection between his defenders and him will probably do just improve. McBean was yet another bright spot for the Galaxy. The midfielder obtained a fantastic goal just moments from time and came on in the closing minutes. The level of the Galaxy will probably serve year continues well as them. Unfortuitously your home side did have a short lapse, letting Herediano to score a well-taken goal to make it 3-1. This goal is cause for concern primarily as the defending was non-existent. Nevertheless, the Galaxy enjoyed an excellent 90 minutes, and they will get into this Sunday's L.A. Derby with a superb quantity of confidence.

Wearing Down Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay's Remaining Draft Projections for Fins

The NFL draft is continuing to grow to take pleasure from unfathomable quantities of media coverage within the last decade or so. Draft coverage is provided by multiple outlets, and there are also people whose sole careers are to pore over, study and examine a conference that lasts three days, one per year. Two of the very most popular draft professionals around are Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay. These draft gurus have already been providing mock breezes and investigation for a long time. Say what you need about their reliability, because seriously attempting to think just one round of the NFL draft is akin to determining the elements outlook for per week. Kiper and McShay are trusted nevertheless. But even probably the most respected had a hard time with 2013's class. Apparently without elite talent yet full of excellent players, this year's course has been one of many most puzzling to figure out. The Miami Dolphins end up within an interesting situation. Sitting at 12, most of the best players at positions of need (offensive tackle, part) is going to be gone. Meanwhile, all of the next-best players appear to be reaches at 12. What is a team to accomplish? Rumors have swirled that the Dolphins are looking to both trade up and down, neither which might not be described as a bad idea. But those movements are beyond Kiper and McShay's comparable scopes. Because of their latest model of Round 1, they just chose who each team would get if they stayed put. Let's break down each analyst's choice for the Dolphins. Mel Kiper Jr's Pick: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama The group of top-flight discusses is unquestionably Eric Fisher, Luke Joeckel and Lane Johnson. Assuming the Dolphins do not join a deal for Brandon Albert, they'll need certainly to draft a handle. The three most useful fights are generally fully guaranteed to be gone prior to the first 10 clubs are through choosing. That leaves D.J. Fluker, who despite having flown notably underneath the radar, is still certainly the fourth-best tackle prospect. He's a monster of a guy at right tackle, measuring as much as 6'4" and 339 pounds. His beastly body allows him to rule in the running game and start large lanes. Equipped with long arms, Fluker is very good at standing and handling defenders. He also has great quickness for his size, indicating defensive ends need to be quickly off the click to flummox Fluker. It might be a secure pick, but it fills a need. Total, I could back this variety. My only problem with Fluker is his size. May the lumbering titan adjust to the zone-blocking plan the Dolphins wish to implement? It is a scheme that an average of calls for a somewhat smaller, more athletic tackle. Fluker might fill that role, however it isn't any guarantee. That problem aside, I prefer Fluker at 12. It enables Miami to fill a need with a great person without stopping any recommendations to maneuver to the top. Todd McShay's Pick: Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama McShay also sees the Dolphins going lineman at No. 12, while that one is just a little surprising if you ask me. Warmack is commonly regarded as the very best guard in the draft, with only North Carolina's Jonathan Cooper coming close. Warmack offers a fatal mixture of speed, power and size on the offensive line. He is 6'2" and 317 pounds, a significant human body in the interior. He has a strong original punch and can point well against bull-rushers. Warmack may also move properly and is also fast enough to have downfield and stop linebackers and corners. The Dolphins don't appear to have a sudden need at guard, but considering Ireland's tendency for creating linemen in early stages, it'd not come as much surprise if Miami snagged Warmack. Certainly, if he falls to 12, many might look at the Dolphins mad for perhaps not getting him. Just like the Fluker pick, I'd be OK with this choice. While guard is not a serious need, Warmack might an All-Pro within a couple of times improve the line quickly and likely. Nevertheless, equally Kiper's and McShay's picks suppose the Dolphins remain at 12. I'm fine with either of those picks, if that is the situation, then sure. But if we're considering the Dolphins' likelihood to move around on Thursday evening, these techniques suddenly don't seem of the same quality to me. Honestly, I expect the Dolphins to work with their abundance of recommendations to shake up the draft order. However, I am still not sold on Miami trading up. I really do nothing like Lane Johnson enough to justify probably giving up a or third-round pick. When they could easily get a practical right especially not tackle in the middle times effortlessly. I had prefer to start to see the Dolphins go back to the first round and sometimes address the secondary (Desmond Trufant, Jamar Taylor) or give Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert a turn to put another weapon for Ryan Tannehill. Eifert may also include permanence if Dustin Keller doesn't work out beyond 2013. No matter the way you cut it, this is shaping up to be one of the most interesting drafts for the Miami Dolphins in quite a long time. With therefore several choices available, personally, I can not wait until Thursday evening to see what happens.

How Manhunter Lakers Inside-Out Technique Boosts Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol

Kobe Bryantas season-ending surgery has made the Los Angeles Lakers in to an inside-out basketball club. A huge emphasis is placed by the emphasis on interior play on maximizing the advantages of Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol. Bryant and Steve Nash missed the ultimate two games of the 2012-13 regular season, which pushed the Lakers to depend on their pair of future Hall of Fame large guys. With the beginning backcourt out of commission, the offense was turned by Mike DaAntoni over to his big men and they've made him look smart. Gasol became a apower point-forwarda, essentially starting and even finishing a few of the plays for the Lakers. Even though several have made the comparison, DaAntoni has converted the Spaniard into Chris Webber. The two-time world champion has been used at the elbows and on the reduced block where defenses just cannot contain him. His combination of footwork, post actions, driving and baseball IQ have made him arguably the most effective offensive weapon for the Gold and Purple. In the remaining two regular season games, Gasolas saw his use rate leap from 19.6 to 22.5 in comparison to his figure for the entire campaign. DaAntonias strategy was rewarded by him by calculating 12 factors, 18 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. His overall activity was also directly impacted by the increased workload on offense. Gasol constantly looked for his teammates, made definitive pieces towards the basket and attacked the glass tougher. The Lakers have used it and benefited from his play as a for the playoffs. In the opening game of the Lakersa postseason function, the Spaniard produced similar numbers and had the same effect on the offensive side. Gasol is a skilled large guy along with a great stress release position. By using him as a facilitator, the Lakers have reduced force of their perimeters people. Thatas crucial since besides Nash, they're primarily unaccustomed with large tasks. Moving forward, itas paramount DaAnotni keeps the exact same philosophy. Not just does his game plan revolve around Gasol and show off the big manas skills, but inaddition it gives its most readily useful chance to the staff at winning. The three-time NBA finalist only makes things easier for his teammates as Howard could testify. With Bryant recuperating at home from his Achilles tear, the former three-time Defensive Player of the Year has seen his amount called usually and early. His consumption price hovered around 20.1 for some of the growing season but rose in Bryantas lack to 24.5 per NBA.comas sophisticated figures software. In the last two contests of the regular season, Howard published averaged of 21 factors and 17.5 rebounds per game. He increased his activity level across the edge at both ends of the court but also made due along with his scoring chances. Howard has observed his fair share of details in the reduced block where heas been efficient rating the ball. Furthermore, heas played well in concert with Gasol. The Lakersa starting energy forward has over and over repeatedly provided Howard from the high post for magnificent finishes. Gasol has consistently rooked rotating defenses to find the superstar middle everytime heas shaken free. Ball is lobbed by pau Gasol to Dwight Howard for dunk. Because Gasol is this kind of person, defenses were forced by itas into being amazingly particular with the choices used when defending Howard. As an example, groups have rarely fronted Howard due to Gasolas passing power. Indeed, fronting him opens the complete other side of the ground for Howard and his frontcourt companion always finds him when he seals his defender. With Howard placing up, catching lobs and shaking loose round the basket, advantageous situations have been uncovered multiple by the Lakers with their center. Dwight Howard article up. In the Lakersa first playoff game, Howard generated 20 factors and 15 rebounds on 8-for-12 field-goal shooting. DaAntoni has found an excellent method and therefore his class has been aggressive despite losing Bryant. As the postseason unfolds, the Lakers must continue planning to their couple of large men. Any hope of playoff achievement sets square on the shoulders. However in truth, just like the tandem has been late in the regular season and early in the playoffs, they should play better. Pau Gasol return on pass to Dwight Howard. Gasol should make better decisions with the ball, normally the six turnovers heas averaging to date in the playoffs can be typical. Howard gets the same issue but in different circumstances. She must only latch harder onto the ball during the post ups and when likely to the holder. Way too often he brings the ball down where guards swipe at it and create turnovers. DaAntoni has identified the necessary menu for the Lakers. Now his players must perform and capitalize on the strengths.

ArsAne Wenger: we have no place for error after The Guardian is drawn - by Manchester United

ArsAne Wenger remains "convinced" that Arsenal will qualify for the Champions League but he warned that there clearly was no more any margin for error following a Bacary Sagna error allowed Robin van Persie to draw his Emirates Stadium return with Manchester United's equaliser in Sunday's 1-1 draw. Wenger spoke of the "disappointed love" that the home crowd had thought with regard to Van Persie, who obtained a pre-match guard of honour with his United team-mates from the Arsenal participants to mark his club's 20th group title. His 43rd-minute purpose, scored from the penalty area after Sagna's poor move and misjudged recovery tackle, was his 29th of the summer season. Van Persie later visited the Arsenal dressing room to see his old friends but Wenger's angry was positioned in him being "treated effectively by our defenders" on the field. "I believe equaliser played a large part in this game because it put us in an arduous position," he said. "We had to open ourselves fully up and set every thing forward and often a bit more with power than with strategy. Where we will have lost the game we opened ourselves up for counterattack. "Sagna is very disappointed. He is a person who gives absolutely everything in every game and I think he made a poor pass that will occur and maybe after, he panicked somewhat since he maybe wanted to restore too quickly what he did. He'd time for you to handle but he has preserved us so often. It was sad that it happened today." System slipped to fourth position and, if Tottenham Hotspur were to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 8 May, Wenger's group may find they don't have get a handle on of these Champions League success. Before that, however, Chelsea should visit United. It is fiendishly tight. "If we win our activities, it'll be enough," Wenger suggested, "and I am persuaded we will be there. There's no place for dropping things nevertheless the other groups are in exactly the same position. We know we cannot drop points." Wenger took issue with the notion that it had been inevitable that Van Persie would report and he proposed that the value of charges did not weigh as heavily. But he was pleased, generally, with the value that was proven to his former person. "I do not believe he scored," Wenger said. "He obtained a fee. It matters but it is not totally the exact same. You always look at how many goals he has scored with penalties and how many he scored in open play, when you obtain a goalscorer. But his penalty was taken by him very well. I understand when he made a decision to take the charge that it had been 80% he scores. He was our penalty taker. He does that well. He does lots of things well. "He was within our dressing room [after the match] because the food is better inside our dressing room than their dressing room. We're opponents [with United] but at the end of the afternoon, we chose to sell him. You want us to produce a guard of honour and to respect the winners but you have to simply accept as well that respect exists after the game. You want to give absolutely everything for the 90 minutes and, after the game, you could still speak with each other." United now know that they cannot reach accurate documentation 96-point Premier League finish and Sir Alex Ferguson lamented missed chances and the referee Phil Dowd's choices to book five of his people. "When we had a bad, he is booked us right away," Ferguson said. "We have among the best disciplinary documents in the united states. For Manchester United to have five people ordered, I do not believe that is right. Collection tripped at a fantastic speed, very intense, with lots of fights and the referee just could not hold up."

Tottenham Hotspur: Wigan Sketch Is Deja-Vu for Spurs in Competition for Champions... - Bleacher Report

As Tottenham Hotspur's 2-2 attract with Wigan Athletic played out, the normal reaction of the club's fans (both those seeing live and those being updated by different media outlets) was frustration. The interesting 3-1 comeback conquer Manchester City the prior week-end had reignited belief in the team's capability to accomplish their season's objectives. Hopefully also in a mode similar to the way the recently dethroned Premier League winners was overwhelmed. Alternatively, Tottenham were toiling against a membership sitting next bottom, and for a lot of the 2nd half were at risk of losing. Rarely the situation a team hoping to play in the Champions League next period ought to be in, right? Losing things following the high of the Man City success was annoying, make no mistake. But, a pull absent at Wigan, by itself, is nothing to be ashamed about. Predicated on their activities through the period, the Latics' lowly situation is what they deserve. The league dining table does not lie, as that much trotted-out baseball saying goes. Neither, however, does Wigan's remarkable survival rate because being promoted to the Premier League back in 2005. Time and time again the North West's underdogs have shown they have the guts for the demise or glory (or its less dramatic, football equivalent) fighting that continues since the plan reaches spring. Spurs know the maximum amount of, having formerly experienced Wigan 3 x in April all through one of many latter's battles for survival. Saturday's game was the fourth conference at the DW Stadium for the reason that month, and the fourth draw. In 2007-08, Tottenham were not that far behind Wigan, and that draw was certainly one of four in a row that found the season peter out. In 2006-07 and 2010-11, the draws contributed to eventual problems to finish in the most truly effective four as Spurs completed fifth on both occasions (although the early in the day one found a solid general finish). Circumstances in those two activities were naturally different to this current one, and each other. Confronted with the test of a staff who equally needed points (albeit it for different reasons), the results against Wigan were endemic of Spurs' inability to obtain the task done when critical points were at risk. As already noted, beating Wigan was never going to be considered a walkover. However in similar situations their opponents have proved able to get the points and finished above them. The main one occasion within the last five years Spurs did win these high-stakes games was in 2009-10, once they effectively cemented their Champions League qualification. This latest meeting with Wigan reiterated the spirit of this present crop of people. As was the case against Man City, Basel and Everton in recent months, they kept plugging away and obtained to make sure they at the very least didn't drop (the next leg against Basel was decided by penalties). Conviction is just a important tool in achieving one's objectives, and maintaining that travel may stand them in good stead in the days ahead. Ideally, however, Spurs desire to avoid too much tensiona'and the product quality had a need to accomplish that and be in front of gamesa'was not evident on Saturday. Andre Villas-Boas picked a 4-3-3 formation following its successful implementation during the City win. In times its advantages were apparent (such as the way the top three had squeezed Wigan's house at the back for Gareth Bale's opener), but its possible success was significantly compromised by an unsuitably negative request and incorrect personnel selected in the initial place. The previous weekend had been sparked by the midfield lineup negated the creativity the changes. Because game Tom Huddlestone and Lewis Holtby could hassle their midfield competitors, get the ball and demonstrate their attention for a Dembele had their back. Against Wigan, Huddlestone was too serious and the German did not start. When compared with that coupling, Dembele and Scott Parker are simply too pragmatically likely. Therefore, there was little of the imagination that had supported Bale, Clint Dempsey and Jermain Defoe therefore well the last week. Also usually times they might have been included were gone whilst the midfield was not having the ball through as quickly or as wisely. Admittedly Man City had left the overall game much more available than Wigan did at any point. The Latics were used a larger urgency., and set up to refuse Spurs room. Jan Vertonghen's failure to mark Emmerson Boyce for Wigan's equalizer (the Belgian's lack of commitment in attempting to stop Callum McManaman's purpose was debateable too, though it may have been a task regardless) and the manner in which Arouna Kone gave Spurs problems all morning long meant it wasn't one of the defense's best days either. Villas-Boas' insistence in tinkering with the collection here's doing little to engender an atmosphere of security at the trunk, although. Tottenham remain in competition to complete in the most effective four, though they know now it could largely depend on finding something away within their game in hand at Chelsea (in between three other crucial activities). The Wigan draw was a stark reminder that building an effective equilibrium between a tips and a team's implementation of them on the frequency involves a lot for this to work on a regular basis. Are April meetings with the Latics also becoming a harbinger of fifth-place finishes for Tottenham Hotspur?

Is Borussia Dortmund emulating Strategy? - The Roar

The giants Borussia Dortmund are one unit that's with the capacity of doing the impossible in the most dramatic design. The part bought out by JArgen Klopp has gone on to win back to back German Bundesliga brands in certain fashion before Bayern Munich displayed their utmost performance this year, recapturing the subject. But, Kloppas military is having an incredible getaway in Europe this season. They have been experiencing amazing responsibilities ever since game certainly one of Champions League and succeeding. They maybe not only topped the Band of death after victories over Ajax, Manchester City and Real Madrid, but also have remained undefeated in Europe, the only side to do this. Shaktar, Malaga and now Real Madrid, Dortmund seems to have answer to every hard resistance and are perfectly placed to perform the finals on May 25 in Wembley. So whatas about emulating Arsenal, while the subject goes? Borussia Dortmund is in some massive trouble as their leading people does not desire to use the yellow and black anymore. Mario Gotzeas proceed to Hamilton Academical Bayern Munich, just days prior to the semifinal clash against Real Madrid angered the supporters and a number of them actually proceeded to remove his name from the hat and burn it. Dortmund ruined the Spanish leader Real Madrid, because of Robert Lewandowskias 4 goals, becoming the only one to do so against Real in Europe. The next day, he is stated to become a part of Bayern as well. His interest have been already voiced by central defender Hummels in joining Barcelona come july 1st. The 24-year-old is set to separate Dortmundas center next period. So using their leading players going out, what does that indicate? Dortmund is emulating Arsene Wengeras Arsenal which is really a sign of drop. Collection did not store names like Henry, Cole, Flamini, Hleb, Adebayor, Viera, Toure, Clichy, Fabregas, Nasri, the golden child and Song of English Premier League- Robin Van Persie. one of many greatest in England being regarded, Arsenal went on with their current talent without winning a prize for years. Cup titles were tasted by the majority of those players who left. Borussiaas situation is worse, considering the undeniable fact that although the number is only three, itas really happening together in one year. That also their best people. Apart from Reus, Dortmund isn't left with Subotic, Kehl, BAaszczykowski, Piszczek, Santana and Gunter who still allow it to be a good part. But with the departure of the trio, Dortmund recapturing German Bundesliga appears not even close to possible. Chances of winning one prize a year it's still tough without their top people and Munichas incredible squad with volatile blemishes lately. For just about any team to be at the top and maintain their supremacy, rendering it stronger and stronger and maintaining the group injury free is the definitive goal. Bayern are on their method to get it done, Barcelona and Real Madrid are already trying to find new signings and Chelsea look to buy Falcao and Jose Mourinho. Dortmund failing to carry their big guns is a really bad sign for their future. Klopp has to construct his part with new signings or end Lewandowski or Hummels from going someplace else. All that we could say now's that Borussia Dortmund will experience exactly the same fate as Arsenal in coming years.

Sir Alex hints Lewandowski Manchester United move is still possible - Goal.com

The Red Devils' boss feels a transfer to Old Trafford could yet happen for the Dortmund star, with it unlikely that BVB will allow him to follow Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich

Goal.com understands the newly crown Bundesliga champions are leading the chase for Lewandowski ahead of United, who have made the Poland international a priority summer signing.

Lewandowski scored four goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday and has been the subject of intense speculation over recent weeks as the new Bundesliga champions were rumoured to have secured his services.

Sir Alex, however, deems it unlikely that Dortmund will sell to their rivals after already losing Mario Gotze to Bavaria and admits that he could swoop in.

"If the right player comes along you have to be prepared to make a move, I can find room for anybody here as long as they have the required quality," he told reporters.

"I am not sure Lewandowski will be sold to Bayern now. The Dortmund fans are not going to be happy and I don't think they will sell to their main rivals. I think they will either let his contract run out, or sell him somewhere else."

The veteran manager spoke of Dortmund's fortunes in the Champions League as he openly admired their team and appeared to eagerly anticipate the prospect of an all-German final.

"But for the referee [in United's defeat to Real Madrid] it would have been us facing Dortmund and we would have had to do a good job, because they are a good side," the Scot observed.

"Our target for next season is to do better in Europe, possibly by adding a player or two, but it will be interesting if this season's final is an all-German affair.

"I have said all along that Dortmund have been prioritising the Champions League this season. They have an unbelievable record against Bayern so, despite what the German league table might say, if the two sides meet in the final it wouldn't be a gimme for Bayern."

Martin O'Neill Lined Up to Replace Tony Pulis as Stoke City Manager - caughtoffside

Martin O'Neill is being touted as a probable successor to Stoke City boss Tony Pulis, if indeed the Potters boss elects to leave the Britannia Stadium side this summer according to the Daily Star.

There is a growing feeling at Stoke City that 55 year old Pulis is ready to leave the club he has managed for seven years and O'Neill, recently sacked by Sunderland, is seen as the ideal man to replace the long servning boss.

Martin O'Neill is said to have been shocked to have been sacked as Black Cats boss, having never been sacked previously in his 20 year managerial career, but is keen to get back into the game as soon as possible and a move to move to a Premier League side would surely tempt the Northern Irishman.

Back to back wins against QPR and Norwich City have moved Stoke City up into 12th spot, some eight points off the drop zone, and as such Pulis's side should be safe from relegation to the Championship though this apparently might not be enough to prevent the diminutive Welshman from leaving the Staffordshire club.

Joe Gore And Marcus Lattimoreas Stories Are Strangely Similar Given That Theyare Both In San Fran

The 49ers know something or two about drafting running backs with severely damaged knee ligaments. They picked one up in the third round in 2005, in the expectations that, must he recover, theyad be obtaining a real bargain. His name was Frank Gore. Enter: the 131st pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. With on the Aber-talented, Aber-injured Marcus Lattimore adequate depth at the top to bottom and an already strong roster, position, the San Francisco Bay Area 49ers got a chance. Problem? Lattimore can owe this leap of faith by the Niners in significant part to Gore, who stands as a reminder that RBs can recover from so-called profession ending injuries suffered throughout college, and even grow. In reality, both shells have already been close for a time. Goreas number is worn by lattimore (21.) And Gore also called Lattimore after putting up with that fateful second leg injury: SFGate: aHe told me to keep my good attitude,a Lattimore said. aI doubted myself, I did accomplish that and I lost hope. But now itas merely a great, great situation to be in.a So just how bad was it? Heas damaged his ACL, PCL, and MCL. At that point he ran out of Class, but he'd have torn these, too if he'd more, Iam sure. Oh, and his knee was dislocated by him in October. The Sc Gamecock, who is the whole package, would have gone in the very first round had his knee been obliterated by him not. Howas 41 TDs in 29 games noise? UFC 159 Results: Jon Jones Throttles Chael Sonnen, Squarely in No-Win Place

After mauling Chael Sonnen at UFC 159, it's obvious that Jon Jones doesn't have serious contenders at 205 pounds. This is simply not news to many combat supporters, but there is really no room for debate left. The UFC light heavyweight champion isn't invincible and would probably eat a legitimate defeat in the weight class to go with the bludgeoning of Matt Hamill that Bones officially "lost." But if that ever occurs, it is likely to be the product of the winner beating himself or some out-of-nowhere freak of nature that's not really on the 205-pound radar at the moment. Go through the organization's own light heavyweight rankings. They're definitely not certain, but they might easily be mistaken as such:, as they are revealed by the business that sets on the cards You'll recall that Bones dispatched the present top competition with intense prejudice at UFC 140. It is true that the Dragon gave him issues in the very first round and were able to touch a few times to the champion. But Jon fundamentally found his variety, bloodied the Brazilian and fundamentally left him in a ton at the bottom of the cage courtesy of an awful position guillotine. Neither Evans nor Rua nor Bader fared any better than Machida. Alhough, Suga Rashad does obtain a star in the moral-victory order to be the first person to ever go a complete five rounds with the UFC's version of the bogeyman. Gustafsson and Teixeira would both be interesting if they could place the 25-year-old champion in stasis and increase while Jones was not able to do this herself. Unfortunately for both up-and-comers, Jon seems to be increasing as fast as, if not faster than, someone else in the department. Possibly even the company. He didn't have much of a possiblity to display his latest updates, but even yet in the roughly five minutes it took to dismantle Sonnen, Jones proved he'd something every all-time good must have: poise enough to navigate a no-win situation efficiently. And he has it at a relatively early age. Where anything in short supply of a spectacular performance against a truthful challenger will leave the crowd grumbling: "What may be the big fuss?" bones has likely reached that rarest amount of dominance That means the truly amazing majority of his bouts will be lose-lose propositions from now on because a lot of the men on that set of light heavyweight competitors won't be observed as genuine competitors. Anderson Silva reached that time around Patrick Cote and Thales Leites. Issues were planning within an ugly path if the Demian Maia Incident at UFC 112 was any sign, but Sonnen's arch-villain routine and near-upset at UFC 117 improved the sport on the Spider. One might even claim Chael saved Anderson from himself by providing Silva with a "worthy" foil or at the least one the UFC middleweight winner had to simply take seriously. Regardless, Silva showed that, even at well-seasoned 34 years of age (at enough time of the debacle in Abu Dhabi), the weight of being the very best dog could be as any opponent as dangerous. The levels are, very nearly by definition, larger for the one holding the belt than for the one wanting to go. Sometimes unfairly therefore, which recommendations the scales of stress much more significantly toward the title-holder. UFC 159's main eventa'featuring perhaps the best 205-pounder of all time against a person who'd not fought at the fat in almost a and got blasted in his last session at 185 poundsa'was an ideal exemplory instance of the phenomenon. If Jones had walked over the cage and pulled Sonnen out in 12 seconds, the Prudential Center crowd would've roared politely and then came ultimately back to discussing Alan Belcher's vision or Roy Nelson's nuclear right hand. Jon Jones had nothing to achieve, everything to get rid of and sailed through the ordeal unscathed. He could've toyed along with his foe, he could've trash-talked him or tried to make a good example of him. Bones could've insisted on whipping Sonnen with his own head games, but rather find the better section of valor and beat Chael with his own fight game. Before the referee had seen enough the light heavyweight champion bullied the much smaller adversary, stumbled a couple punishing takedowns and pulped Sonnen. Positive, the stoppage looked a tad early, but only because Chael was still aware, maybe not because he'd any potential for rallying. So chalk up another amazing, though unsurprising performance for Jones and yet another psychological gun to choose the handle he confirmed against Vitor Belfort's infamous armbar at UFC 152. We are brought by which back again to that set of so-called challengers. The Mauler and Teixeira are extraordinary inside their own rights, but neither has got the actual tools that Jones' possesses and Jon is indicating around the emotional challenges as well. Both deserve and will probably get their pictures, but neither will be a terrific choice unless one or both will find a way to close on the champion between now and then to unseat the 205-pound kingpin. Hendo and Minotoro Nogueira might've given Jones' a run for his electronics inside their primes, but despite my man-crush on Dangerous Dan and my regard for anybody called Nogueira, you are speaking about 42 and 36. Age is not the end-all-be-all of battle variables, but adding it to all or any of Jones' other advantages doesn't support. That leaves Davis and Mousasi. Mr. Wonderful only picked aside Vinny Magalhaes, but well, it had been Vinny Magalhaes. Davis comes to the "needs more improvement" camp along side Gustafsson and Teixeira, he just generally seems to need more of it. As for the Dreamcatcher, who knows what to label of him at this point? He's looked like a world-beater at times and then looked like the person who struggled Keith Jardine to a lure 2011.AEither way, Mousasi's about the same size as Sonnen, although not nearly as real, so it is difficult to see him offering Jones much opposition. When it comes to mythical knight from beyond the horizon, the sole name I could consider is Daniel Cormier, but perhaps you have seen DC lately? (As he should really be), it is going to be considered a while before we see Cormier at light heavyweight and that's if he actually decides that is where he really wants to go if he's set on cutting down to 205 properly. Until then, Dana White and Joe Silva are going to have to get creative because, after five eye-opening title defenses and 10 consecutive wins at 205 pounds with nine coming via stoppage, the UFC light heavyweight champ has little left to prove and even less opposition against which to prove it.

Highlights of Cardiff Town 1-1 Bolton Wanderers: Just out of Bogdan's reach

Bolton Wanderers traveled to Cardiff City Stadium to take on the Champions in the thing that was always likely to be described as a vital battle for Bolton's play-off expectations. It was greatly an event environment in Cardiff as the Red Dragons were prepared to carry a prize, regardless of the match's result. Here are the match illustrates for you, if you were not the trip that was made by one of the 1,700 Bolton fans. The Trotters would do their utmost to spoil the festivities nonetheless it was Adam Bogdan who'd do the work early on. The goalkeeper made a huge stay in the game's opening minutes as Jordon Mutch found himself in way too much room. Jan Ricketts was the provider for the match's opening target as he broke into the field from the right wing and squared it to Chris Eagles. The winger got the opportunity first-time and concluded extremely well reduced and to the far post. Adam Bogdan would be called in to action again in the second half, creating a amazing stop on Tommy Smith after diving very nearly the entire breadth of the goal. Unfortuitously, just a few minutes later, Cardiff would equalize. Craig Noone's free end beat Bogdan at the near post and was the game's final purpose. Cardiff City would strain the Trotters for the rest of the fit and would ultimately lift the trophy without much difficulty. The point held Bolton in the play-off areas. The Return of Derrick Rose

Was just making a video about Derrick Rose and when he will return to the NBA. It is almost a year to the day since he suffered his injury in the opening game of last seasons NBA playoffs. Seeing it was a sports related video I thought I had better add it here.

I have been too busy with my travel product I promote to be able to write for this site. I have missed my time writing about sport but there are only so many hours in a day.

And seeing I am talking about the game, the Bulls managed to hold on for a 79-76 win after getting stuck on 77 for ages as the Nets surged back into the game. Ex-Chicago Bulls player C. J. Watson had a shot to take the game into overtime as the buzzer sounded.

The Bulls were up 73-56 with 8:35 remaining in the match and then with 5:47 to play they still had a commanding lead of 77-62. Missing three of six free throws in the final quarter the Bulls did their best to hand the Nets the game.

Luckily for the Bulls Carlos Boozer had put in a good effort earlier in the match scoring 22 points and pulling down 16 boards.

Now the Bulls lead the series 2-1. The big question is will we see Derrick Rose out on the floor during game time? He looks sharp in a suit on the sidelines but that is not how I want to see him.

Manchester United supervisor Sir Alex Ferguson may be the unstoppable nature behind... - Telegraph.co.uk

The first requires Tony Strudwick, Manchester when he was invited to the renowned, Unitedas fitness instructor who Isokinetic Football Medicine Strategies Conference in London a week ago, with 1,500 delegates from 77 nations, had to drop. Medical staff from all the Champions League semi-finalists were there but Strudwick was told he could not be spared. United had the Premier League covered up but there was a first-team work out. That came 2nd, first and last. The 2nd relates more directly to Ferguson herself, who strode into Fridayas media briefings before Sunday's fit at Arsenal and remained running a business mode: it was not the time to sleep on his laurels. The bus, as he once put it, doesn't end. A 21st Premier League title needed to be won next year; a third Champions League triumph needed to be designed. aI have never looked back, only forward,a he stated. When Ferguson in the course of time spoke of Arsenal he revealed something else having said that much about his psyche and what he's looking for. aI was watching a show this morning of the semi-final of the European Cup and the child (Kieran) Gibbs slipped for starters of the goals,a he explained of the high priced mistake which granted Ji-Sung Park to score an important away target on the road to Unitedas triumph over Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final four years ago a' a opposition they ultimately won in Moscow. aThe only Arsenal person who went around Gibbs was (Robin) Van Persie, he place his shoulder is rounded by VB arm - and I think heas the exact same with us,a Ferguson included. aI donat think he was chief then, I think it was (Cesc) Fabregas. But heas getting that effect on the young people here. He lives the right way, he trains the right way.a It was instructive, of course, that it was this facet of Van Persie that Ferguson thought we would highlight as his tactics were prepared by him for Sundayas fit. At an event for the Football Writersa Association the last night, Sam Allardyce, the West Ham United manager, thought we would explain the type of players Ferguson employees when it comes to identity and what's expected of them. aThat works through them like the characters in a stick of rock,a he said. The character of Ferguson, finishing a 26th time at United, obviously helps. Allardyce also recalled the 71-year-oldas recent comments he was now too old to retire. Those times back 2001-02 when he was set to action down truly look ridiculously early with hindsight. United had won 14 key awards then; in the next 11 seasons he has included twelve more. But even the awards don't get near to telling the story of his management. When his Aberdeen facet won the European Cup Winnersa Cup back 1983 beating Real Madrid on a rain-soaked Gothenburg night, the Real instructor Alfredo Di Stefano no less, provided among the most evocative quotes of all-time. aThis was not a basketball team that we met,a the Argentine seen. aIt was an easy spirit.a Ferguson is that aunstoppable spirita a' ferocious as a player, ferocious as a manager. There's been no making up. That bus doesn't stop. He's as motivated and as respected as ever and his influence are available in every corner of United. It is why Paul Scholes may stay at United next period as a coach to participate famous brands Mike Phelan, Brian McClair, Nicky Butt and, sooner or later, Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher as former people who've made that move. It is to protect the clubas DNA. Ferguson has, in recent days, spoken of how this United group is his most useful ever but although a record may be delivered by it things tally for the Premier League, overhauling the 95 accomplished by Chelsea under Jose Mourinho in 2004-05, several would consent. What is more interesting is that Ferguson herself has evidently resulted in a better manager a' while not necessarily a better coach or tactician a' lately. He blends the new and the old and has shown a flexibility that describes administration. Then when he asserted that Rio Ferdinand will be adealt witha after his refusal to use a Kick It Out T-shirt, he's able to back off a' as he did when claiming it had been due to a acommunication problema a' without losing face. They can provide every state-of-the-art comfort for his players, while nevertheless insisting that those under 23 do not drive sports cars. And he also can act heavy-handedly, as he has completed with some of the media prohibitions enforced in 2013. Fergusonas feeling of real politic has also been remarkable, not least in the way he's handled the transition at United from PLC to the control of the Glazer family, which he was again invited to comment upon on Friday, and who have now been questionable heirs of his support. Again Allardyce noted that if Ferguson have been, for instance, an investment banker then a bonuses he would have received for the value he's added to the United stock might have much out-stripped the pay a football manager as he's paid. But what is most notable of all could be the manner in which Ferguson has not granted any other club a' whatever their money and resources, whatever their control structure or management - to have any prolonged amount of prominence. He arrived in England intent on taking on Liverpool and realized that; then dealt with the challenge of Blackburn Rovers Arsenal, Chelsea and now Manchester City. Cityas geographical proximity to United could have meant this latest name success may possibly, in Fergusonas quiet moments of reflection, mean more to him than any other in recent years. They a and Chelsea - will definitely come again. But United have been the one continual threat. They'll perhaps not relent.

Liverpool Are Next In Line For Major Qatari Investment, Says Report

Liverpool Football Club could be the next Premier League in line for major Qatari investment, according to a report published last night by Al Jazeera Sport.

The report states that Qatari telecommunications company Ooredoo is interested in investing significant amounts of money into the Anfield club in order to break into the Asian market.

"The goal was to sponsor a big English club with a huge history, our search included Arsenal and Manchester United but the former two have long sponsorship deals and the same applies to Manchester City, so Liverpool is the only club available right now.

"We received the tender from the club a few days ago and we are currently in the process of due diligence and we are studying each aspect of the study.

"It is a dual interest, Liverpool needs the money to compete with the European heavyweights and we want to expand our brand to reach new markets via football."

The current shirt sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered is reported to end at the end of this season, and the club have been involved in talks to renew the deal. But the addition of Ooredoo to the negotiating table could help the Reds significantly increase their sponsorship revenue.

Formerly known as Qtel, Ooredoo is one of the major telecom providers in Qatar and is backed by the Qatari Royal family.

What are your thoughts about Ooreboo wanting naming rights to Anfield? Should Liverpool consider selling the naming rights to Anfield if it means pumping a significant amount of money into the club, to help spur them on to sign better players? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
