Champions Group Semifinals: Bayern Munich 4, FC Barcelona 0 a Stop Of A... - The Offside

Letas not kid ourselves: that is a terrible effect. Though itas perhaps not completely outside the realm of possibility that BarAa can report a manita in the home, given last nightas performance, wanting should only be performed by trained experts who donat mind getting their center trampled on repeatedly. For the others of you, you could bask in the consolation that there may be no ClAsico Champions League final to push us to ruination and drink. We've all had bad times on the job, we only do not usually have so many people watching us. We have all had bad days in the office, we only do not often have so many individuals seeing us. Tito Vilanova went for what seemed the most obvious beginning XI: VV, Dani Alves, PiquA, Bartra, Jordi Alba, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Alexis, Messi and Pedrito. Contemplating the injuries and suspensions (and that, in spite of his striking efficiency on the weekend, Abidal isn't yet ready to play two high-intensity games in one week), and with a hope-for-the-best all-clear for Messi, it absolutely was the very best we're able to do. And, for a start, it absolutely was done well. Bayern had a start, but BarAa didnat crumple beneath the pressure; the kind of Xavi, Iniesta and even Pedrito folded neatly to the defence to absorb the original Bayern problems, and there was even a spell when BarAa really installed a shy attempt at an offensive. Whenever we conceded a target from a place kick, wella you canat tell me anyone was surprised. Itas our thing. If BarAa actually played a against a fourth-team division staff composed solely of five-year-olds, wead find a way to concede from a set-piece. Certainly Bayern (making use of their tall participants who actually know how to jump) would benefit from that. ''Set-pieces pull, huh?'' ''Set-pieces pull, huh?'' Conceding a goal is something that, next seasonas godawful conceding report, holds no fear for BarAa. A series of progressively dangerous corner-kicks, however, is sufficient to make even probably the most stalwart culA thatas precisely what we were treated to and start whimpering, and break right into a sweat. Add a handful of handball calls for Bayern that -thank the Football Gods- werenat provided, and you've the recipe for a heart condition there. And there wasnat actually anything to cheer us up; BarAa had no presence in the last third, with Pedro also hectic defending, Messi nursing his not-injury, and Alexis just standing there, waiting for the ball to magically appear at his feet. BarAa still had the advantage of person, but the chances were all Bayernas until the half-time. I have to say this now, I thought BarAa did better than expected in the first half. Certain, they conceded an objective, but they were going to do this anyway. Viewing the midfielders and Pedrito pitch in to aid in protection, and our fullbacks really pay attention to defensive jobs for once, was kind of encouraging. With the exception of one corner-kick and the whiff of a, BarAa had produced no danger, however, you had the feeling that, if they could continue washing the force, perhaps a chance would come. Unfortuitously, asking for 90 minutes of good defending using this group is much like asking Puyol to cut his hair. It ainat happening. In just a number of minutes of the beginning of the 2nd half, we conceded again. Set-pieces again. Phony defending again. Strong breaths, I said. If we could keep consitently the scoreline like this, as well as put in a cheeky goal, things will look different at the Camp Nou. ''If I'm an opponent, why am I the only person having goalscoring chances?'' ''If I am an opponent, why am I the only one having goalscoring chances?'' An hour or so had passed and BarAaas already-unimpressive performance was growing steadily worse as the people tired beneath the constant Bayern pressure. Messi was, for all intents and purposes, invisible. I donat say this lightly, but he was worse than Cesc; clearly unfit, Leo couldnat function and restricted himself to getting the ball and moving it away at once, underneath the treatment of three burly bodyguards in red. But Tito didnat feel just like making any subs. No body was actually warm up. Things got even worse. Robben obtained. There have been still no subs. Messi stood still and looked tired, hurt and dispirited. There were still no subs. Alexis shrugged and tried to greatly help out in support. There were still no subs. ''Turns out I can't play a complete match on one knee against a proper protection. How awful!'' ''Turns out I am unable to enjoy a complete fit on one knee against a proper defence. How awful!'' We had to wait until the 82nd moment until Tito saw fit to bring in Villaa for Pedro, for something had been actually done by the only forward who to date. Pepas practice of indulging in super-late subs was exasperating when it was Bojan he brought in when the group was winning 5-0 at home, but itas absolutely inexcusable in this case. What the Hell was Tito thinking? Messi wasn't fit, and, as often that Messi is on the message, the teamas attack concentrated on him, and Leo simply wasnat around completing any such thing yesterday. Even Cesc could have done a job; Hell, we could have played Song as a striker, only told him to obtain inside and work at the Bayern defenders, and it would have looked better. Or remove an opponent and generate Thiago to brighten up the midfield. Anything would have been better than BarAa in the 2nd half, but no. Hats off to Bayern, too. They had an excellent efficiency, and I swooned in jealousy each time BarAa tried to move within their ultimate third and were relentlessly cut down. If perhaps we're able to defend like that! I wasnat also fascinated by their assault, though, even though perhaps itas since they couldnat be arsed to accomplish anything impressive up there, understanding that set-pieces would be enough. They were worthy opponents and I look forwards to seeing them next time, under Pep. It might have already been worse than the 4-0 scoreline, which Bayern fully deserved. Donat you dare blame this on the referee, the flooded frequency, or the line of the night time. BarAa just didnat do enough to acquire a win, or a draw, or a less painful defeat. On one other hand, saying aomg, here is the end of a period a!!!a is equally silly. Those cries have now been coming each year, like clockwork, considering that the first-time Pep failed to get a trophy. The period was likely to stop the first time we didnat win two Champions Leagues back-to-back, the first time we didnat win the Copa del Rey, the first time we didnat win La Liga, the first time we didnat win the Club World Cup, the first time we lost a match. The era was supposed to end after the loss to Inter, the era was supposed to end after the loss to Real Madrid, the era was supposed to end after Chelsea kicked us out of the Champions League last year, the era was supposed to end after the initial leg at Milana you get my drift. Demonstrably the staff today has significant problems. Like the undeniable fact that two of our most useful defenders are hurt, another one is stopped, and his return have been just made by another to soccer after a liver transplant and beating cancer. Like the undeniable fact that our best midfielder is showing the strain of getting on in years after playing for six times at the greatest level with club and place (sorry, Xavi!). Like while certainly still wounded the proven fact that our most useful player and main supply of objectives is playing. Such as the proven fact that our instructor just returned from whipping cancer, also. And still, weare two steps from winning La Liga and achieved the Champions League semifinals, which only other three teams in Europe may say. Is that what a crisis is called by you? Because, if so, oh boy, have I obtained news for youa I know this is bad and I should experience bad at laughing, but at least he didnat bite anybody. VV: 8. Couple of good saves, did his better to protect dozens of Bayern CKs while obvious jealous daggers at Neuer, safe behind their own impregnable defence.Dani Alves: 8,5. Dani had a good sport. 2 or 3 of BarAaas tiny handful of possibilities originated in his individual runs, and he defended bravely.PiquA: 7,5. First, it was special that he sacrificed his hair to the Football Gods. 2nd, he tried his most useful, and the fact remains that the BarAa support was more stable than it has held it's place in months, notwithstanding the scoreline.Bartra: 8. For a youngster who has performed significantly less than a handful of matches with the very first team in 2013, he did willing to move only a little out of his comfort and well; he was created in the facial skin of danger zone to bail out his fullback. His two misses before target were regrettable, but understandable: unlike PiquA, Bambi never pretended to become a striker.Jordi Alba: 7,5. I sort of expected tiny and fierce Philip Lahm to eat our squirrel for break fast, but he didnat. I do though I admit when I desired to cry.Busquets: 7 his angry outburst got a laugh out of me, hope Jordinho was better at preserving his temper (heas now suspended for the get back leg). Poor guy was desperately putting out fires all around the place; still, there was more mispassing than we often see from him.Xavi: 7,5. We rarely see Xavi contain herself so much with protecting, but last night he got down seriously to it and got his hands dirty. A shame all this defending left him little time or energy to do better when attempting to create an attack.Iniesta: 8. With Xavi playing Busi while Busi played Mascherano, Iniesta was the driving force behind the BarAa attack; itas a pity this converted to him beating his head fruitlessly against a large, red-clad wall.Alexis: 5,5. Alexis used the first 70 minutes really confused because the ball never reached the final third on his side; by the time he caught on and decided to help in the protection, it absolutely was too late.Messi: no status. He should not have played, between the fact that he couldnat work and that he had been heavily marked. The duty lies on Tito, for insisting on playing him.Pedrito: 8. What few achancesa BarAa had (crosses that could have been of use if someone had been in the field) came from Pedrito and Dani crawling up. More essentially, Pedro was great at defence, at moments more the fullback than Dani himself.Villa couldnat do something, returning when the clusterfuck that was the second half was already reaching its crescendo, but if I ranked the instructor, then Tito would be getting one of those embarrasing grades I usually hold for Cesc. Who says these players don't make sacrifices for the team? Who says these people don't make sacrifices for the team? It is what it's, culAs. A terrible day in the office in front of a brilliant team, an error from our coach in an important moment. Weare still two matches from winning La Liga, that should be our first priority now, and our second should be to provide a better efficiency than this at the Camp Nou a few weeks. Dialogue of signings we have to produce and structural changes can wait before the Liga title is protected and we can put Rosell under and loosen his purse-strings. Fans of different groups who come here to gloat: youare only permitted to accomplish that if your staff has had an improved period than BarAa up to now. That means, Bayern supporters, you have a floor. Everybody else, be quiet, we donat go to yours to mock you when youare down. And often, even with painful 4-0 lossesa VISCA EL BARAA!
