David Silva admitted last night that he fears the worst in his race to be fit for Manchester City's FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.
Silva limped out of City's win over neighbours Manchester United in the 89th-minute on Monday night after suffering a hamstring strain.
The Spain international will have scans tomorrow to determine the extent of the damage, but he would be a huge loss as City chase realistically their last chance of silverware this season.
Asked if he feared he would be out of the Chelsea game as soon as soon as it happened, Silva admitted: 'I felt it then and I still feel it now.
'It will be a big blow for me (if I can't play). It's a game that everyone wants to play but if I can't play then we have other players who can.'
Fighting fit: City can rest after their derby win through Sergio Aguero's winner (above), while Chelsea face a Europa League trip to Rubin Kazan (below) before the Wembley showdown on Sunday
Speaking at an event to promote Anfi, a holiday company in his hometown of Arguineguin, Silva claimed that City's 2-1 win over United proved they can mount a stronger title challenge next season.
But he admitted that Robin van Persie's late winner for United at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season typified the change of fortunes that has cost Roberto Mancini's side.
He added: 'To achieve next year we have to follow the line that we showed last night. Last year we had luck at the right times and this year we have not.
'(Against United in December) we played well and in the last moment we got a goal against us. This season has been a little bit like that.
'In moments luck has not been with us. United have done a great job and they are in front. We have to concentrate on the teams behind us who are playing well.'
