Rutgers Basketball: Eddie Jordan Is Ideal Heir to Robert Rice

Eddie Jordan has been pegged by the Rutgers Basketball program because the successor to Mike Rice. Aol! Sportsa Adrian Wojnarowski noted on Friday that the college made Jordan an offer and that the 2 parties could discuss terms over the weekend. Paul Rice was dismissed recently after having a video appeared of him berating and insulting student-athletes.Al Bello/Getty Images Jordan was not the schoolas first choice to displace Rice, though. University of Rhode Island instructor Danny Hurley was offered the position but turned it down earlier in the day in the week (h/t ESPNas Andy Katz). While Jordan may well not have been their first alternative, he is the best choice to lead the Vivid red Knights in the wake with this conflict. The job is not likely to be simple, though. Rutgers, a team that has fought recently, is finding your way through a proceed to the Big Ten conference and remains surrounded by negative media attention from the Rice scandal. Which makes the head coaching position very unattractive for many individuals. The Vivid red Knights made the best shift by seeking Jordan, an and former player for the college. He is probably prepared to disregard those elements for an opportunity to coach his alma matter. Rutgers needs to close the offer quickly and start the method of rebuilding its plan. Finding Jordan set up will allow them to fix their administrative issues while allowing their staff to focus on building a successful baseball program. The Bright red Knights were only 5-13 in Big East play last periodic Bello/Getty Pictures As an instructor, Jordan gives NBA experience to the table after a stint with the Sacramento Kings, and head coaching careers with the Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers. He is currently employed as an assistant coach with the La Lakers. His playing career were only available in Rutgers from 1973-77 and involved a Final Four appearance in 1976. From there, he played for five different clubs in the NBA from 1977-84. Jordan considers herself being an great match for the work, also. aThe only university I would coach would be Rutgers, and I believe it generates complete sense for me to function as next Rutgers coach, or to at least be greatly considered," Jordan said, in accordance with Paul Franklin of NJ.com. Jordan brought the Washington Wizards to four consecutive playoff looks from 2005 to 2008.Gregory Shamus/Getty Images Jordan is known as a aplayeras coach.a That explanation is just a far cry from whatever Mike Rice was to his players. Beyond that, though, he is also a great and modern unpleasant brain. His adaption of the Princeton Offense in the NBA could have failed in Los Angeles, but it did miracles for the Washington Wizards during his tenure as head coach. While in Washington, Jordan brought the Wizards to four-straight playoff appearances before being fired after having a 1-10 come from 2008. He's light emitting diode groups to success and has been a powerful proponent of othersa achievements all through his career. His perspective, earning reputation and connection to the Rutgers software makes him a no-brainer selection to lead the college in the wake of Riceas termination.
