Quentin prices Greinke after being hit by pitch

SAN DIEGO (AP) a Padres slugger Carlos Quentin raced the mound and wrestled La Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke to the ground after getting hit by a message Thursday night, leading to a bench-clearing brawl between your clubs. After he was plunked on the left shoulder in the sixth inning, Quentin started walking toward the pile. Greinke seemed to say some thing and Quentin then charged this year's AL Cy Young Award winner. They lowered their shoulders and collided, and Quentin handled the pitcher to the lawn. Both ended up on underneath of a huge scrum as players from both sides went onto the field and jumped in. If they finally were taken aside, Quentin was led off the field by teammate Mark Kotsay. Greinke walked off toward the Dodgers' dugout, his uniform top disheveled. Following the teams started clearing the area, Jerry Hairston Jr. came running across the field yelling and pointing at someone in the San Diego dugout and must be controlled. Dodgers slugger Matt Kemp also was livid, probably partly because Padres beginner Jason Marquis used a pitch to him in the very first inning. The benches and bullpens emptied again, leading to pushing and shoving. But it didn't look any punches were thrown. Quentin was hit by a pitch above the right hand by Dodgers reliever Ronald Belisario on Tuesday and had to keep the game. Greinke plunked Quentin once in 2008 and once last year when both were in the American League, based on STATS. Quentin has been hit by pitches 116 times in his occupation, including an 23 times in 2011. Greinke has hit 46 batters since his major league debut in 2004. Quentin, Kemp and Hairston were thrown. La reliever Chris Capuano was handed constantly he had a need to loosen up when play ultimately resumed following a delay around 15 minutes, indicating Greinke left by having an injury. Greinke decreased his left (non-throwing) shoulder in to Quentin and took the brunt of the strike while they collided. Greinke joined the Dodgers as a free agent in the offseason, signing a million, six-year contract. Greinke missed time during spring training with a soft right knee. Quentin was slowed by a balky right knee after having offseason surgery.
