Marseille Deny Deal Done For QPR Midfielder Joey Barton ...

Joey Barton has been left with egg on his face after Marseille denied his claim that a deal was already in place for him to join the club on a permanent basis this summer according to The Independent.

Speaking on the social media network Twitter, Barton claimed that he hoped QPR would avoid relegation from the Premier League but that a deal for him to leave the club had already been agreed anyway.

Marseille President Vincent Labrune admitted that the club would be interested in signing Barton on a permanent basis but insisted he continued to belong to QPR for the time being.

Fernandes stated that he wanted it on record that QPR players who are under contract do not have the power to decide where they play.

Barton is rarely away from controversy and recently got in trouble with French football authorities after calling PSG defender Thiago Silva a ladyboy.
