And Once Again, A Rutgers Athletics System Is Really A Train Wreck

Why the fuck am I a Rutgers fan? Why the fuck is everyone a Rutgers lover? Thatas about all I can think as I watched the video youall see below, and video was said by the reaction to. Which will definitely dissipate over time (UPDATE: already has, to some extent) a I just sent these first two phrases to a pal whoas also a graduate and die-hard fan, in what I think was an attempt to get him to discuss me off a me out of saying it because Iam just heated right now. But no a' this article should really be a to how I felt in the moment. And thatas just how I felt after seeing this: You could understand that in December, Rutgers basketball mentor Mike Rice was stopped and fined $50,000 for inappropriate behavior all through training, which, it was reported at enough time, included throwing basketballs at playersa heads. Well, the movie you see above, which aired on todayas Beyond your Lines, documents that unacceptable behavior, and judging by the prevailing response, has once again made Rutgers athletics the thing of national ridicule, this time for off-field/court dilemmas as opposed to and endless line of distressing failures. Why ridicule? Well, as you can view, in the above video, Rice comes off being an unhinged fanatic. The screaming (save your self for the gay slur) is something a' everyoneas known Rice was a yeller because, well, permanently. Even some of the physical contact may be explained away. The problem is that not totally all of it may a and the basketball-throwing is beyond the pale. Yes, as Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti said on OTL today (if nothing else, he deserves credit for actually appearing on the show and facing issues), these incidents mightn't present an obvious image of what happened frequently at practice, but if any of this stuff had even happened one time, it'd have now been too many a' and it clearly didnat happen one time. This, of course, isnat the first time Rutgersa phenomenally failed basketball program (NCAA-less streak: 22 years a checking) has found itself in the news due to awkward tactics used by a coach a' itas only the latest in a near-endless type of bad news bordering the basketball program. The most amazing thing to consider now's how at one time, lovers like myself were certain Rice was going to be the man to orchestrate the long-awaited transformation. He did his first season to an extraordinary job in squeezing just out of a greatly undermanned list. Nowa this. While Pernetti says Rice will stick around barring any additional problems, itas difficult to see how Rice continues much longer barring a miraculous NCAA work next season (and you wonat think how easily all this negative press will disappear if that happens, filled with reports from every part about how much Rice has learned and grown). For the time being, weare left with another Rutgers activities chaos, and Iam just tired of it. Unpleasant losses just like the one that motivated me to publish this are one thing. Incidents that manage to make Rutgers stand out as looking particularly negative even yet in regards to the very low bar set by the inherently corrupt nature of school sports, to the level weare getting ripped on by LeBron fucking James? That stings. OKAY, perhaps whistle-blower Eric Murdock had an to grind (his tenure with the program was apparently not a clean one), but everything relating to this is a disaster for Rutgers. The fact that Riceas conduct actually occurred at all, the fact that he still has a work a one friend just thought to me, aAt least it canat get worse than this,a but I put nothing past Rutgers athletics. Itas an expansion of Murphyas Law: if something can get worse even when you think it canat, it will. I am hoping thatas not what goes on here. Rutgers supporters are nothing or even individual, so Iall wait and see a ' but this running team needs anything, something to get right in the worst way, and soon. I miss out the days of being a national embarrassment just because of on-field performance. US Presswire photo, via
