Bay Pointe Tennis ClubWest Bloomfield, Michigan Grade: B+Teacheras Comments: Fine circumstances, a lot of water, just a little pricey for SE Michigan Within an oft-repeated story in Michigan, Bay Pointe is just a former country club now available to the general public. Their decline could be the publicas obtain. Bay Pointe is really a well-kept, fun program thatas worth a vacation from anywhere in SE Michigan. Iave enjoyed the class on a couple of occasion: the very first, with a regular group; the second at an aouting.a It was fun both times. Full disclosure. The top tennis pro may be the father of a student of mine. And a few my most useful golfing friends practically survive the program. They've nothing but nutrients to say about this. Bay Pointe times to 1985, and was created by Ernie Fuller. The Links of Pinewood in Walled Lake, Michigan, was still another Fuller style. That closed in 2008. Fuller also produced the Edgewood Country Club in Oakland County. Bay Pointe has two sets of tees. The Gold, which determine 6,231 meters, represents to a 70.1/122. The Silver show up dramatically shorter at 4,906 and plays to a 64.4/103. In whatever way it is sliced by you, this is a short course. Ergo, it might maybe not be suitable for many participants. The primary challenge of Bay Pointe is the water.A By my count, there's water on fourteen holes. The absolute most lovely holes on the class follow the shorelines of Lower and Middle Straits Lakes. Wett stuff is frankly everywhere, and a wayward ball will probably die in a watery grave. Mud, on one other hand, is not a concern. You will find maybe a dozen traps on the entire class. Problems on the times I played were exemplary. Vegetables and tee boxes were in top condition, as were the fairways. I do believe the quality of the fairways is just a bit surprising, given the number of surrounding water and the low lying areas. Indeed, I am sure that areas of the course are below lake level. That the superintendent is able to keep it all from being waterlogged is impressive. Bay Pointe is run by Oak Management, which also controls the excellent Lyon Oaks. That likely features a lot regarding it. The courseas topography is open and relatively flat. Fairways often be broad, and except where water threatens aren't likely to exceedingly punish somewhat wayward shots. The holes are close together. But there plenty of water holes. My favorite gap was the eleventh, a lawn par 5 with a dogleg left at in regards to the place the place where a tee shot would land. From there, the next shot would be to a little ridge. From there, it's downhill to a green hidden to the left of just one of the countless water hazards. Costs are at the top of range for SE Michigan. Itas $59 on vacations with wagon, and $44 on weekdays. There's no cost differential between cart use and walking. The underside line for Bay Pointe is it is well kept, and fun, but brief by todayas expectations. Bogey golfers wonat brain the shorter course, but major hitters might be unhappy.
