10 Biggest Takeaways in the Players Championship.

It shouldn't have surprised anyone that a rather unheralded PGA Tour rookie would create a splash this past weekend at the Players Championship. It made, however, surprise everyone that that it was David Lingmerth who would be your one to do that.

In a season who has already seen two rookies win PGA Tour events, including Derek Ernst who did it a week ago at Quail Hollow, Lingmerth became the latest first-timer to help you impress by battling inevitable winner Tiger Woods up to the 72nd damaged spot.

While others faltered all over him, including playing spouse Sergio Garcia, Lingmerth placed steady, overcoming some early back nine struggles to pull just a shot of Tiger on the way to the 17th. A par there and then a subsequent bogey on 18 relegated Lingmerth to the second-place tie, but this surprising performance earned him or her significant praise, and once and for all reason.

By most reports, Lingmerth's swing is sound, his poise was proven while playing inside final group on Weekend and his determination to work out it through will carry him well into the future. This guy shall be heard from again subsequently.
